Hey Marlin, are you for sure going? We are trying to compile a list of exactly whose going and who isn't. Are you going to drive down to Des Moines and caravan down with us early Saturday morning or what? _________________ J. D.

Going to KC for the show, Yes.(unless something bad happens)
Leaving from Des Moines Saturday morning, probably not. It's over a hundred miles out of my way, and the drive to Des Moines is a full 4 hours. I'd either have to stay Friday night in Ankeny or leave at 2 am Saturday morning. Although it would be cool to caravan down to KC with a bunch of cool Camaros! |

This morning I noticed we have a small chance of rain Saturday here in Des Moines. Unfortunately the chance in Kansas City appears to be higher. I hope if the rain comes it comes in late. Here is a link to a TV station in the Kansas City area.

MID-WEST CAMARO FEST 2012
The show yesterday (Saturday - August 25th) in Kansas City and the people I went with were awesome. The gentleman in charge of judging the show for the Kansas City Camaro Club who I known for several years (Jim Sharpe) told me that there was around 130 Camaros there at the show yesterday.
Iowa was represented by 3 members of the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club (99SS&92Z28, 99ORANGEZ & E's Z), 2 members of I.C.E. (Steve_RS_Camaro & pwrmanpaul) plus me (02zl1_97ss) and I represented both the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club and I.C.E.
This was a judged show and awards for each class were:
CLASS CHAMPION (1 given in each class)
GOLD (Unlimited based on total points)
SILVER (Unlimited based on total points)
BRONZE (Unlimited based on total points)
Everyone did well as you will see in the pictures below.
Eric (99ORANGEZ) won CLASS CHAMPION in the Modified '98 to '02 class
J.D. (02zl1_97ss) won CLASS CHAMPION in the Supercar class
Paul (pwrmanpaul) and Steve(Steve_RS_Camaro) won GOLD in the 2010 and up original class (5th gen original).
Roger (E's Z) and Marlin (99SS&92Z28) won GOLD in the Daily Driver Class.
We all had a great time and after the show on the way home..............Paul & Kathy, Steve and J.D. & Nancy stopped at Camaro's Lounge & Restaurant in Bethany, MO for supper.
Well...........anyway..........here are the pictures:
THE IOWA REPRESENTATION
Marlin's '99 SS (99SS&92Z28)
Steve's 5th Gen RS (Steve_RS_Camaro)
Paul's 5th Gen SS (pwrmanpaul))
Roger's '97 30th Anniversary Z28 convertible (E's Z))
Eric's '99 Z28 (ORANGEZ). This car was the 1999 & 2000 Chevrolet Legends Tour Car that Scott Settlemier with Chevrolet (as verified by Scott with the V.I.N. #) sent out on tour promoting the 4th Gen Camaro.)
J.D.'s 2002 Phase II ZL1 Supercar (02zl1_97ss)
These are just pictures of various cars at the show that caught my interest for whatever reason.
A 5th Gen S.L.P. ZL454
A 2002 Phase I ZL1 Supercar (similar to mine)
A 5th Gen ZL1
The Synergy Green Car below won CLASS CHAMPION in the 2010 and up Modified Class and also THE MAYOR'S CHOICE AWARD for the show.

Steve (Steve_RS_Camaro) receiving his GOLD award in the 2010 and up Original Class.

Jim..................it sprinkled a couple of times on the way down and on the way back and just once in the early afternoon we had a light shower that lasted for about 10 minutes so we had to dry off the car. About the time we were done drying off the car the judges came to judge our Camaro so it was nice and clean and bright and shiny for them. _________________ J. D.
