Mid-Iowa Camaro Club's History

Welcome to the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club, this club was started May 5, 1989 by Greg & Janice Hatch with help from Bob & Pat Landsberger. Janice placed an ad in the Des Moines Register announcing when and where the first meeting would be held. This ad brought five (5) people to the original Mid-Iowa Camaro meeting.

The early meetings were spent discussing Camaros and recruiting techniques. Early members enjoyed cruising and attending car shows and spending many hours at Porkys Drive-in recruiting new members.

Recruiting efforts paid off and by 1990 there were twenty nine (29) members in the Club. Janice also contacted the US Camaro Club and let them know about the Iowa based Club. Janice continues to receive interest from people who have heard about the Club though this National Organization. Since that time, the Club has grown by leaps and bounds and now supports over one hundred (100) members across the State.

The club still does some of the original activities; such as car shows, cruises, annual picnic, photo shoot and year end Christmas awards party. We have added our own yearly Camaro Car Show, precipitate in several Dealership shows and other shows during the Summer months. The club has also a very strong showing in the annual Cruise to the Woods that happens the first Sunday of October each year with over 1200 vehicles cruising to Fort Dodge area from various locations throughout the State.
